The PhanTechnikum is a fantastic museum and science centre where visitors can learn all about the history of technology. The museum is split into four different rooms, each depicting an element: fire, air, water and earth. In the air room, you can learn about how the first planes were created. The water room answers questions about how dams are created and whether it is possible to sail against the wind. Whilst the fire room explores how early people created fire. Alternatively, visit Welt-Erbe-Haus: a world heritage house which is a great example of the city's architecture. The building is an old merchant's house and has UNESCO status. Inside there are exhibitions about the city's history and culture.

Travel from England to Wismar
Wismar is an easy destination to get to as Hamburg airport is located a couple of hours away from the town. International flights are regularly scheduled to Hamburg from London, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol. Once you arrive at Hamburg airport, catch the subway into the city centre. From here, board a train going to Schwerin Hauptbahnhof this takes about one hour and 25 min. You will then need to change trains as Wismar is a short 25 min journey from Schwerin Hauptbahnhof. Alternatively, hire a car to drive to your holiday apartment in Wismar.
When to visit Wismar
If you are looking for the hottest time to visit Wismar, then the summer months are the best time to plan your holiday. However, this is also the busier tourist season. Wismar has nice weather for about half the year; from April to September so this would be an ideal time to visit. There's a high likelihood of rain and snow throughout the winter. The hottest time of the year is usually mid-July when temperatures reach around 25°C. The night-time temperature is around 15°C.
