Visit Toneelschuur theatre and watch an evocative performance of a musical or dance show. The building, designed by cartoonist Joost Swarte, features two theatre halls and two movie theatres. Explore Teylers Museum for its amazing art and science exhibitions including ancient fossils, instruments, and minerals. In Velsen-Zuid, enjoy the parks and beaches or visit the skiing resort of Snowplanet Spaarnwoude in winter. Other activities that you can easily do include a visit to the two historic homes of Buitenplaats Beeckestijnand Waterland and the Museum Farm ‘Jan Makke’ in Velserbroek.

You can also drive from London to mainland Europe via Folkestone and Calais. The trip will last around 4 hours. If you decide to take the train from London St. Pancras, you’ll reach Amsterdam Centraal in 4 hours and from there, it will take you another 30 minutes to arrive at Zandvoort an See. Staying in Amsterdam for a few days and interested in visiting Zandvoort? Hop on bus 80 from Marnixstraat or take the train from the Central Station and change trains in Haarlem. In summer, special trains are available that will bring you straight from Amsterdam to Zandvoort.
Best time to visit and recommended activities

It might still be too cold for a dip in the North Sea, but strolls on the beach are pleasant especially when the sun is out. Summer or from June to August is ideal for beach breaks when temperatures climb. December to February is the cold season, but if you’re properly dressed, walks on the beach can be invigorating. Plus, there are indoor activities that you can do such as ice skating, bowling or museum visits. During the festive season, enjoy Christmas fairs, concerts, or just admire the bright décor on windows and houses.
